My dad recieves a Social Security check every month &?
so do I. Since I am in school still & 18 years old, the check comes in my name & I will only receive the check until June 2010 when I graduate from high school. I was wondering, that since the check comes in my name; is it 'mine'? Meaning, do I have to hand it over to my dad & mom. The only reason I am is because the check is for me, for food, etc.

Technically, yes, the money is yours. That would be the case regardless of your age. However, it sounds like the money is coming because you are still a 'dependent' (just no longer a 'minor dependent') of your dad, and that's why it will end when you finish school--at that time the gov't assumes you will be going to work or college and will be starting your own finances. So while the money is 'yours', it's to offset some of your dad's costs of having young offspring living in the house or his child support--food, clothes, shelter (your room), school supplies, etc. So as long as the money really is going to those things, it's probably a good idea to let things be.
