Question on Savings bonds?

Ok, so I am a student who is trying to pay of some college bills, and I have in my possession about $2,500 in savings bonds. The only problem is that some clown printed my name as Alexandria, when in fact my actual name is Alexander. Does anybody have any clue or advice as to how I can possibly cash them?

Go to a bank that cashes U.S. Savings bonds and ask to see the person who answers questions about bonds. Sometimes very minor errors pass, but in this case it may be a problem. If there is another person listed as payee on the bond (like a parent who bought it for your education), then have that person cash the bond and you will get the money. If that does not apply, have the bank person help you fill out a form from the Federal Reserve. That form and the bond will then be sent to the nearest Federal Reserve Regional Office and a new bond will be returned to you with the correct name. If another person listed on the bond as a co-payee has died, you will need to get their death certificate for the paperwork going to the Federal Reserve.

http://www.treasurydirect.gov/forms/sav4000.pdf can be used to reissue the bonds.

According to the form, the purchaser has to sign the form since this is an error when the bonds were registered.
