Peanut butter is a painless, harmless way to remove gum from fur and hair - just rub it in and the gum will sort of "melt" away. This also works on tree sap. He may need a bath afterward to remove the peanut butter, but a little non-toxic soap should do the trick.

If he attempts to bite, stand up and say "No, down" firmly and make him lay down. Praise him for being calm and then carefully start working again. Make sure he's on a leash so you can enforce the down by stepping on the leash and pulling on the other end. He'll pick up on your emotions so be and act calm, not hurried or worried or angry. Make him lay down while you work and if he gets up say "no, down" and calmly enforce the down position. Reward by letting him lick the peanut butter or giving another treat.

In a few days, when he's way past being scared, start working on obedience training so he can be easily controlled if he needs help again. My dogs all learned to lay up-side-down on the floor with their head in my lap - easiest way to control a dog while trimming nails or brushing teeth! - while I pet, cuddle, and groom them. They all also have a solid stand-stay where they won't move their feet during baths or brushing.

I would try Diamond Eye. I have a yorkie that always gets hard eye goopies and it breaks it down really well. It is pet friendly, easy to use and fairly cheap (under $20). You should be able to find it at your local petco or petsmart! As for the anger he's probably scared, maybe you could purchase a open nose muzzle to get him clean and keep you safe! Good Luck!

Peanut butter will get the gum off, and he can eat that to. I would try calming him down first with a treat and petting him.

Go get some peanut butter..it's the only way to do it without her resisting..the only struggle will be to keep her from licking it all off.

Peanut butter works fairly well...but near his mouth her may lick it off as fast as you rub it on.
