Is there a way to get around that region code thing in the dvd player?

I have this dvd that someone brought from England and I can't watch it.

Yes you can, there are multiple ways in which you can do this. You can change the region on you DVD player, however, after about 4 or 5 times this becomes permanent and then you can't change it back.

    1. One way is to rip the DVD to your PC (you will need software for this though---I recommend DVD Fab) then convert it on your computer or burn it to a Blank DVD (much more expensive cause you have to buy blank DVDs and the software, but if you have a lot of movies that are different regions then this may be the best way). if you have a Mac, try Mac the ripper (download and install) and the handbook. (NOTE: if a DVD has a higher level of protection then you may not be able to burn it.)

    2. you can download and install VLC programe on to your computer and when you play your DVD open it up with VLC. (however, this will not work if you have a really new Mac)

    3. You can also buy an external hard drive that is region free or where you can change the region by VLC method.

    4. All of these are for watching the DVD on your computer. However, when watching it on the TV with a DVD player, as said before, can only work 5 times, which means you might want to invest in a cheap DVD player that is region free, if you have a lot of DVDs that are different regions. They can be as cheap as $30 bucks. So, if you are not tech. smart or don't want the cost of burning a new DVD, then I would suggest getting a muli-regional DVD player. They are fairly cheap.

    Hope this helps some.
