Metallic Taste, Pierced Tongue?

I got my tongue pierced yesterday at like 4:30pm, the swelling has gone down quite a noticeable bit-- but its still thick to talk and a chore to eat [mostly because I keep biting the ball & pushing food sucks].

All is well other than this slightly worrying metallic taste in my mouth. My boyfriend got his done yesterday too and has it too, so I was thinking it might just be the bar-- but I wanted to make sure.

Also, he marked both of our tongues with a bit of tattoo ink prior to the piercing, my boyfriends has washed off-- MINE is still there. So just behind my ball I've got this icky black ink looking stuff-- and I'm hoping mine will go away.. any suggestions or comments on that?

The metallic taste will last for a while. Mine lasted for about four days, my husbands lasted for a week and a half. It does go away and is completely normal.

As for the tattoo ink, though it's very odd he used it and not just clamps, it will go away in time. Even an actual oral tattoo only lasts for a brief amount of time. Just keep rinsing your mouth out with mouth wash and don't let it concern you unless infectious symptoms arise.

What are you using to clean it? When I had my lip pierced, my piercer told me to use glyoxide. That stuff leaves the worst taste in your mouth. Have you used that? It can taste a bit like metal. Otherwise, it's possible that the piercing went through just the right part of your tongue so that you're constantly tasting it, blood or pus.

There is metal in your mouth, so yes... you will be tasting metal.

    Either that or the blood.

don't worry. you stuck a rod of metal through the body part you use for tasting, so you'll probably be tasting metal.
