Tell her just to do some sit ups and eat right. Then tell her to go on a diet.~Rachel

Working out for a week isn't going to do anything. Your mom doesn't sound lazy, either.
You didn't mention what you want to help her with, I assume you think she needs to lose weight.
She has to do this on her own. You can't make her want to exercise or lose weight. She should also see her doctor to get a checkup before she begins a workout regimen.
It's very nice of you to want to help...the best thing you could do and keep all snack type food that you might like out of the house and don't eat them in front of her. Also, talk to her about how you feel afraid for her. Sometimes love is enough to motivate someone to want to be a better person.

Core Rhythm would be good for her I think.
1) It`s not too strenuous if she just sticks to the "Getting Started" DVD.
2) It helps tone and strengthen her Core Muscles which are basically the groups that cause your body to start having major health problems later if they are not maintained properly. The basic movements aren`t difficult AT ALL!
3) Seeing the female instructors on the video, how tone they are and the sleek way they move, is good motivation and might bring out some of her "hidden dancer" which will make the workout fun and easy for her once she gets into it.
I lent my wife`s "Getting Started" DVD to a friend of mine who`s wife isn`t that much into exercise either. She loved it, did it once a day and was ready for me to send the Full Workout by the next week.
4) You could always try to get her started with Tai Chi... You Tube vids available.
Either way, nothing will work for her if she`s not motivated to do it by herself. See what she`s interested in and what might make her want to work out. Start from there and I`m sure you`ll find a good program for her.
Good Luck
