MSI 9600GT 512Mb RAM DDR3, why difference in RAM?
Am happy enough with the card for the price but why does my system tell me it has 1Gb of RAM?
Scott I have the same one as in the picture but the box says 512mb RAM, will check out the other info though.
Ok GPU-Z says I have 512mb but my system info says I have 1gb and as well as System Requirements Lab (however not always trused), thanks for the link btw I used it before but forgot about it.

you sure you don't have this 9800gt by msi....it has 1 gig of ddr3 memory.......

a good way to check your video card to find out a lot of info on is to run gpu-z......its free ans safe to use....download it to your desktop,open it and run it from there.......

If you know for a fact that card has 512 MB RAM in it (the way to check would be to pull it out and look for a white sticker that would say somewhere on the card) then my only answer is that you downloaded the drivers for the 1GB 9600, and the drivers work okay for your card, but it's telling your PC that it's 1GB and not 512 MB
