Almost all mice (wired or radio) are HID compliant (Human interface device), 'Plug-n-Play', so unless it's been damaged it should go...
Try 'tuning' the mouse to the USB: on the bottom (either mouse or USB) should be a small button. This resets the signal and tunes the two so they communicate. Push and hold for 5-7 seconds.

Wireless mice eat batteries - mine would go through a set of batteries in 3 hours. So, first change out the batteries with fresh ones and see how it works.
