Can I play Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green on my DS Lite?
OK well I've been thinking about playing Pokemon and I was wondering if I could play Fire Red and/or Leaf Green (I might get one and see if I like it) on my Nintendo DS Lite. I know that it has a game slot for GBA games, but I read on the Nintendo website that it can't play multiplayer games. I don't know if Pokemon is a multiplayer game, because you can battle people, soooo yeah. Sorry if I sound like a n00b, lol (:

Yes.
Pokemon is primarily a sigle-player game with Multiplayer capabilities.
However, you cannot utilize the multi-player features, meaning you cannot battle or Trade with others. The DS was made with wireless-link DS games in mind, and does not serve to aid the needs of an older GBA game.
The reason behind it-- the GBA feature in the DS was just a "logical" bonus. The GBA slot was intended for additional extras in gaming (Rumble Pak, Guitar Hero "Guitar"...).
Go on eBay and see if you can find both a Pokemon game and a GBA SP. At this point and time, you can only buy Pre-DS Pokemon games from GameStop or eBay, and GameStop is expensive (20 Dollars doesn't seem bad, but compare it to lower prices).
P.S. In case you didn't know, Fire Red and Leaf Green are next to the same-- same storyline, plot, starters, characters. The only thing diferent are a couple events and pokemon available to catch. No one Pokemon game cartridge can produce all the Pokemon you can catch. Therefore, expand your territory-- get FireRed/LeafGreen, and if you like them, get Emerald version.
P.M. me if you want.

YOU CAN PLAY
But i dont think you will be able to connect or battle with other players UNLESS they have a ds lite too, but if they gave sp, or advance then they wont be able to connect with you cause u need a cable, and DS is wireless
Im pretty sure you can play =]
But if you cant. i mean 10% possibility just buy gameboy advance its relly cheap now
or BUY the pokemon diamond thingy xD
good luck!

you can play the gba pokemon games
what you cant do is link it up with another ds lite and battle with your pokemon against another persons
but you can still play the game it self and follow the "story "
