Is the Yaz birth control pill really that dangerous?

I've been taking it for over a year now and I haven't had any problems. But now all these internet ads and commercials that say Yaz causes strokes, heart attacks, etc. are making me nervous.

you shouldn't worry. all kinds of birth control raise the risk of having a stroke or heart attack. every birth control affects every woman differently though. so just because someone else like a friend had a bad reaction to yaz (like a heart attack) doesn't mean you will. if you have been on it for over a year you should be fine.

It's not that it causes these things in every woman who takes it; it's that there is a higher-than-expected risk and the company may have hidden the results of clinical testing or didn't test thoroughly enough to notice that their medication was more likely to cause blood-clots and related problems.

It doesn't help that they made misleading ads that may have convinced more women to use Yaz as birth control because it doesn't cause weight gain and they claimed it relieved PMS (they had to release commercials and statements that Yaz does NOT treat PMS because the FDA didn't approve it for this purpose and they got in trouble for claiming it DID.)

So women who experienced blood clots and related issues are feeling lied to and betrayed and are perusing a class action.

If you have no contraindications for Yaz you shouldn't worry - if you have no family history of bloodclot, heart attack, or stroke, and you are not over 35, are not a smoker, and your blood pressure is OK, then you're probably fine. If you're uncomfortable, you could always switch to a different brand of pill or talk to your doctor about your concerns.

each and all the categorised commercials you spot approximately Yaz are BS... Yaz is a splendidly wonderful delivery administration. The categorised commercials that state Yaz is risky and such did a case learn on basically approximately a hundred human beings it fairly is amazingly small. Later there advance right into a learn performed with some thousand human beings and that they got here across Yaz to have an identical side outcomes as the different delivery administration pill. the consumer-friendly side outcomes of delivery administration are: * Nausea * Weight benefit * Sore or swollen breasts * Small quantity of blood, or recognizing, between classes * Lighter classes * temper differences and much less consumer-friendly, yet greater extreme side outcomes are: * belly discomfort (abdomen discomfort) * Chest discomfort * issues (extreme) * Eye issues (blurred resourceful and prescient) * Swelling and/or aching interior the legs and thighs * Blood clots I fairly have been on delivery administration pills for 3 years and that i've got basically experienced a number of the "consumer-friendly" side outcomes.

No, dear. You are fine. Read the answers to my question I asked a while ago about people scaring women away from birth control. It is nothing but fear mongering based on nothing. There is a lot of conservatives/religious nuts who do not support any form of contraception or liberals/hippies who want everything to be from "mother earth" and anything that is not is "toxic" who say it is dangerous. Again, you're fine. I've been on it a year and a half.

most forms of birth control are safe but there are some that cause those problems in certain individuals. you should be fine since you've been taking it so long without any problems, if you're really worried then talk to your doctor.
