Anyone have song ideas for a (my) beloved man who passed away April, 2009? I'm making DVD with all his pics?

His name is/was Mike. He passed from lung cancer at young age of 48. He really liked rock (RUSH was his favorite); but, he also liked country, and other genres (he just didn't really like Rap). We didn't have an "our song", for we listened & danced / partied to all different songs & groups. We were suppose to marry (we'd been together almost 6 years). I miss him dearly. Couple ideas I've thought may be nice: Free Bird, by Lynard Skynard; & Crying for Me (country song, by ? is it Toby Keith?) Thank-you so much to all who contribute answers to this question. It means so much to me.

Instead of giving you a specific song I would like I'd like to suggest you take the songs you mentioned befor. Those are the songs you connect to him. Take his favorite songs and not ours ;-)

I also am sorry for your loss. Being 43 and having a terminal condition of my own i know how hard it is to watch my loved ones have to watch and suffer right along with me. This being said, I have made a list of a few songs that I have asked my wife to play at my funeral.

One you might consider is "See You On The Other Side" - OZZY

Another I Like is by Mariah Carey-Boyz II Men - "One Sweet Day"

I have a few more that might be useful but listen to those 2 and see what ya think.

I wish you all the best with your recovery from your loss. Dan

I played the song "Days" by the Kinks at my mothers funeral. Great tune.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHjONldAJuA&feature...

    "Thank you for the days

Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me

I'm thinking of the days, I won't forget a single day believe me

I bless the light, I bless the light that shines on you, believe me

And though you're gone, you're with me every single day believe me

Days I remember all my life

Days when I can't tell wrong from right

You took my life, and then I knew that very soon you'd leave me

But it's allright, now I'm not frightened of this world believe me

I wish today could be tomorrow, the night is dark,

It just brings sorrow let it rain....Thank you for the days...."

What's odd is, after I played this song on acoustic, we went home, and later that day I plugged my I-Pod in the stereo, and out of over 2000 possible songs....the first song it played on shuffle was...."Days." Felt like my mother was saying 'thank you.'

    Sorry for your loss...never easy.

Higher by Creed is a good one. Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) is great song for videos about memories. Those 2 may work. Also try Angel by Aerosmith. I hope these help and I'm terribly sorry for your loss.
