Putting Tea Tree Oil in Shampoo as a natural Lice Repellent?
I just bought some tea tree oil to use as a lice repellent in my regular shampoo. How many drops do you think would be reasonable in a regular sized shampoo bottle? I know some people say so many drops per fluid ounces, but I want to know around how many per a whole bottle, and should I put it in my conditioner as well?

Ahh.. we have been using this trick for a couple of years. Every time I hear of a lice outbreak at school I buy a bottle of tea tree oil. I'm sure I overdo it a bit but when I wash my daughters hair, I put a quarter size amount of shampoo in my hand and then add two tea tree oil drops to that ..then wash her hair. Also, I blow dry it and squirt 2 spritz of hairspray on the brush and brush it through her hair. So far, it's worked.

You could use straight tea tree oil but it might be a bit strong and some people might develop a rash. Try a teaspoon full and see what happens. You must shake the shampoo before you use it because the oil will separate out.
You could even mix some with plain water and use it as a rinse, which might even be better.
