what gauge wire to use when installing a wireless thermostat?

I am wiring the sensor (equipment interface module) to the the heat/ac unit. It is a class 2 remote thermostat. what gauge wire should i use for this

    Usually 24 ga is standard from the remote receiver (where the old thermostat as mounted) to the control board of the heat/ac unit.

    The 24 gauge wire is a little light. Since you will need only 2 conductors and the telephone wire is 4 conductor, just double up the wires. Tie both ends of two conductors together for each conductor needed.

    I really couldn't say but if you give your local Ace Hardware a call and ask one of their electricians it may be a little more reliable then the people on here..
