How do you remove info from an old computer before giving it away?
I have an old computer I haven't used in years. I would like to give it away, but I want everything removed from it before I do. How do you do this?
I don't have a monitor - it's not hooked up to anything. I guess I just wanted to know where I could take it to have it professionally done.
Thanks

Take it to best buy or staples and have them wipe the hard drive. Just putting in yours OS disk and reinstalling will not always wipe your disk. Best buy and other companies have programs that write to your hard drive and then delete it many times. This will wipe you drive well.

the in simple terms particular way is to save your HD and get yet another one for the pc. you should use Dban to wipe it, and reinstall domicile windows. you are able to also use one among many report restore procedures at each and every time to be certain what different customers of pc can dig up...

Select each drive and right click it and click on format. To format C: dirve (and also, for entire Hard Disk) use O.S. CD( change bios settings to boot pc with CD) to format pc and simply delete all partitions.
