going from vegetarian to raw food only question?

i have been vegetarian for about 6 years and i am really considering going on a raw food diet just because i have heard makes you feel good. my question is if i go raw what can i eat besides fruits and vegetables? can i still eat rice and lentils and bread please give me ideas!!!

    Don't go from vegetarian to raw foodist. Go from vegetarian to vegan. Then go from vegan to raw foodist. It's too much of a drastic change. Trust me, I have been vegetarian for 10years, vegan for 2years, and am transitioning into raw foodist it's hard though so take it slow. I hope it works out! :)

    I dont recommend a raw vegan diet. I have been raw vegan for years and I feel lousy but now my body is no longer adapted to cooked food, so it makes me ill so I can never switch back. But I feel weak, exhausted, ill, awful on raw vegan. Humans evolved on raw food but it included raw fish, game, eggs, shellfish, roe, bone marrow.......before we ate meat we were apes. By the time we turned into homo sapiens - humans - we had been eating meat for a long time.

    However we can be very healthy on a vegan diet if we replace meat with cooked beans and wholegrains. Cultures around the world have been doing this for thousands of years - rice and lentils in India, corn beans and squash for the Native Americans, soya and rice for the chinese.

    Raw vegans cut out the cooked beans and grains. Which is why most develop health problems eventually - these disappear when they start eating either cooked beans and grains or raw animal food. Children especially usually dont do at all well. They fail to thrive. There have been some exceptions but they ARE the exceptions.

    So I do not think a diet of just fruit, veg, nuts, seeds, sprouted beans, seaweed and coconuts is sufficient. Not because it is raw but simply because it is so restricted and you have cut out staple food groups.

    To answer your questions, raw vegans only eat raw food. Rice is not raw, lentils can be sprouted and then eaten raw but the nutritional value is totally different from cooked. Bread is baked, it is not raw.

    I recommend instead you switch to a wholefood vegetarian diet. No processed food, nothing out of a packet or a tin, no salt, no fried food, no microwaved food, only steamed or boiled or raw. Buy your own grains straight from the field and mill them into flour yourself, make your own bread. Flake your own oats, and make your own pasta. Eat beans, lentils, chickpeas, nuts bought in shells, seeds, fruit, veg, seaweed, coconuts, extra virgin olive oil, and wholegrains straight from the field (wheat, oats, brown rice, quinoa, millet, barley). If you have milk only have unpasteurised goats milk.

    You won't develop deficiencies on this diet.

    Raw foodists eat fruits, vegetables, fresh juices, nuts, seeds, and sprouted grains.

    You can sprout rice and use it raw, or a good rice substitute can be made out of rutabagas .

    Lentils can easily be sprouted for use in a raw diet.

    "Pastas" can be made out of many different vegetables, using a spiral slicer.

    I make bread, crackers, tostadas etc. in my dehydrator.
