If you pre-pay for 100 gallons of propane and when the company delivers it 2 1/2 weeks later?

the price per gallon has gone up, should you have to pay the difference or shouldnt you get your 100 gallons at the price it was when you pre-paid for it? My company wants me to pay the difference and I'm an employee. How is this even legal?

Check the specific terms and conditions that you made the purchase under. It might be that there is a clause allowing this.

In the first place the question is regarding the governing laws. From a normal business perspective I would say that once they accepted the prepayment in full the deal has been concluded with the delivery outstanding. It is a normal business risk if they accept the transaction and deliver later.

On the other hand, the company had the money to their disposition and do e.g. purchases with it, which means that you provided some capital for their running business without receiving financial coverage for it.

I would reject the demand and insist on delivery.

if you have a pre pay agreement. then your 100 gal should have already been paid for hence the term pre pay. if they want you to pay the difference then it becomes a different agreement and it is a breach of contract
