Playstation 3 backwards compatibility.?
Will Playstation ever have an update or make something available to buy so the newer Playstation 3's can be backwards compatible?

No. Its only possible if they can emulate both the Emotion Engine and Graphics Synthesizer with the PS3 hardware. Emulating the Graphics Synthesizer is extremely difficult to do and Sony has stated that they don't have much interest in trying to make it work for the disc games.

According to Sony, they aren't interested in releasing anything to allow for BC on non BC PS3 ! However there was a rumor floating around in September about a possible PS2 game download and Sega Dreamcast classics on blu-ray discs !
There was also a hint that the Dreamcast games would possibly be available on the PS (Playstation Store) for purchase and download !
There hasn't been any more news regarding this that I'm aware of since September so who knows if it'll ever happen !

As far as i know it was only the older PS3s that had BWC, its not as simple as a add on you can just plugin, its a hardware feature built in, dvd drive, cpu,.

no. they have specifically said that they are no longer interested in providing BWC.
