Why do my baby guinea pigs make this sound?

my new baby guinea piggies (estimated to be around 6-8 weeks old) make a 'chunnering' sound when they hear certain noises. It doesn't sound like their happy chattering sound and it's certainly not the wheeking they do when they're exploring or talking to each other. For example, any repetitive sound, eg, kissing sounds I make to them to calm them down, the tap of a spoon on a cup, etc, causes them to make this noise. I don't want to upset them if they're telling me to 'shut up' in guinea-speak, but the kissing sound I make at them always stops them from wheeking and stressing out. I thought maybe they were responding to me, but can't be sure.

Any ideas?

Guinea pigs make this noise if they are concerned or fearful about something.

They make a high pitched wheeking sound if they see you have food

If they are trying to sort out the pecking order they wil make a whirring sound and walk around the cage mate.

When mature they boars will also make this sound and rear up to each other to sort out who's the boss
