Will a new tivo record two shows?

We currently have the tivo brand dvr in one room and directv dvrs in all others. I need to replace the tivo with another tivo but i'm seeing on the tivo website that the tivo will only record one digital or satellite signal.

We've been recording two shows at once on this current tivo for many years, would the new one be any different?

Yes, the new Tivo units with dual tuner will record two shows at once. If you are watching TV, you would have to watch one of those shows as it records though.

I'm pretty sure all the new Tivos have dual tuners, so you can watch one show while you record another, or record two shows at the same time. They don't make the ones that only had one tuner anymore.

PS. I love my Tivo :)

There are two different types of TiVo. One type will record two different shows playing at the same time (most are of this type), while the other one will only record one at a time (usually refurbished).
