Something I've always wondered about...?

for as long as I can remember, the Canadian alpine skiers have always worn bright yellow ski suits. Anyone know why?

Please no gratuitous comments, I am really curious.

I don't know why and never thought about until you asked. But I also remember the yellow even going back to the Crazy Canuck years with Ken Read and Dave Murray.

My guess would be that the Crazy Canucks wanted a loud uniform to match their skiing style. With the success they had in making Canada a ski power, the colour became something readily identified with Canadian skiers, and now it's almost like a trademark.

Bright colours stand out better against the white background of the ski hill; making it easier for observers to watch the skiers.
