Where do I find a Pro Bono plumber in California?

Every day there's at least a dozen or so posts on Y!A from people looking for a lawyer to work for them for free.

Well, my bathroom sink is draining really slowly. Where do I find a plumber to come out and fix it for me for free?

You're missing the mark. A slow running drain is an issue that can be resolved with some easily downloaded forms and a little common sense.

Where the real trouble is lies in finding a pro bono gardener who will also rake leaves and shovel snow.

Once plumbers start charging 300 dollars an hour (please extra fees for any tools they use, faxes/shipping charges and miscellaneous fees) then they might be expected to do some pro bono work for the poor...

    Edit-

Im glad Plumbers don't work like Laywers, Could you imagine?

m- Hi, how much is it to fix a slow drain

    p- 300 Dollars

    m-Ok, Can you come saturday?

    Saturday

p- Ok, its all set, that will be 658 Dollars

m- What you said it would be 300 dollars?!?

p- Well, it was 300 dollars to fix the drain, 50 Dollars for screws, 100 conveience fee for coming on saturday, 45 dollar fax fee, 25 order orgination fee, 50 vehicle depreciation fee, 75 tool usage surcharge and tax...

Well, if you need a pro bono plumber, Cali would be the place for it. I would suggest headed down to Palm Springs (or at least grabbing the Palm Springs yellow pages) and calling every plumber in the town/city to see if they supported Sonny when he was running for mayor. If so, I think you have found your pro-Bono plumber.

Or, can I just call a plumber out to my house to look at my plumbing and have him tell me how to fix it myself and not pay him anything? Where are those guys?

I'm not a plumber, but I'd do it for a 12-pack of beer.

Source(s): Just fixed a slow drain in my bathroom earlier this week.

I applaud your posting this, I've been tempted to post something similar for a long time. Somehow, people just "expect" attorneys to work for nothing.
