Is anyone getting "Coding error" problems with Google search?
Starting an hour ago, if I type in a search into Google, it comes up ok. But if I make any change to the search term, all I get is a blank screen with a dialog box saying
"Content Encoding Error
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression." (Firefox)
or a complicated message giving HTML-looking details but with the same basic outcome, that it's an encoding error (Safari).
I have no other symptoms of a possible virus on my machine, and have been only on Yahoo lately. If it's a Google problem then I don't need to scan my PC.
So, is anyone else getting this?

Nope, just you. 99.999% of the time when a big-name website like that fails, it's just your computer. They have backup systems on top of backup systems.

Well it is a catholic school, so I'm not so surprised by you being unable to search for 'gay' and 'lesbian' on your school computers. They might have blocked those as so many search results lead to porn however it should be those sites that are blocked, not your entire search. Speak to your principal about the issue and make enquiries about changing it. Even in catholic schools they shouldn't be able to stop you accessing material you should have access to.

your search term has to make sense, make sure your typing something the search engine can understand
