opening messenger from an icon on my toolbar?
On my PC, there's an icon on the tool bar from which i can open messenger and keep it open. I don't find that on my new laptop. There, I have to go directly to the 'net and open it there, but I can't keep it open as a separate program on my desktop. Any suggestions? thanks

Since you said "new" laptop I assume you have Windows 7 OS on it? if that is the case and you want the Yahoo messenger icon to be on your task bar then all you need to do is click on the Start Button go to All Programs and find the Yahoo folder down at the bottom of the list. Open the folder and Right click on the messenger Icon and then click on "Pin to Taskbar"
The cool thing about the Win7 taskbar is that you can move your Icons into any position you want just by clicking on them and dragging them to the spot you want and dropping them there.
Also if there are any other programs you want to show in your Start menu or on your task bar just do like I showed you how to do the messenger icon, just right click on the programs icon (from the All Programs menu) and then choose either "Pin to Taskbar" Or "Pin to Start Menu"
Hope this helps
