Frigidaire Gallery Ceramic Top stove - F1 error? DIY repair or pro?

I have a Frigidaire Gallery Electric stove and the oven really malfunctioned this afternoon! I had put a couple of chickens in there for dinner a few minutes before. Stove started beeping; glad it did! The oven was scorching hot and only the top element was on.

We had to resort to turning the breaker off to get the thing shut off; the touch pad did nothing. I'm more than reasonably handy and I also do a lot of my own computer hardware work installing drives, boards and such. From what I've found on the Net, it seems to be the Electronic Oven Control. Is that a DIY job or should I suck it up and pay the service call? I'm not worried about the repair guy ripping me off, I've dealt with him for years and he's always great!

And truthfully, if it's something he knows I can fix, he'll tell me to come get the part but I can't get in touch with him until tomorrow morning and I will stew about this all night if given the chance. Money is really tight and I need a big service call bill like a hole in the head!

Thanks!

The error code relates to the door lock.

Try fooling around with that to see if the code goes away.

It's been my experience to adapt easier to electric ranges, rather than gas. Gas heats, and cooks faster than other modes of cooking as well as heating. In fact if you find you have electric baseboard heat when you move, it will be the most expensive, and the least able to distribute evenly. Also ceiling coils heat the upper half of a room and not the lower. The experience is much like feeling there is a sunburn on the top of ones' head. Cooking with electricity, is a bit slower. But having a glass top range is the way to go. There are no crevices to clean. One has to be care- ful not to use an abrasive on the top to avoid scratching the surface. I have a new black glass topped range, that was delivered a few days ago. It replaced an old glass top, that had two burners go out. After an attempt to replace the second burner, there was a quick spark and mini blaze that blew the breaker switch. It was at that point, a substitute range was brought in. The new one was in storage, and has a panel for finger touch operation. There are no knobs. It is all digital without buttons. Inside is a convection oven, and one mini rack and a full width rack. I haven't read the instruction book to learn what the mini rack is for. but if I plan to do any cooking, aside from boiling tea water, I'll have to read it soon.
