You're probably running Internet Explorer 6. IE 6 is a 9 year old browser and is not capable of handling modern web pages- even Bill Gates had to mess around with the website just so it would work in IE 6. Also, it has a ton of security holes.
If you want to continue to use Microsoft Internet Explorer for web browsing, you can download the latest version from Microsoft's website.

There are also other browsers available which are faster, more customizable, and more secure.
