What role does the subconscious mind play in religious/spiritual inspiration?

One way the subconscious mind may play a huge part is in the area of receptivity. If one's subconscious beliefs do not allow for receptivity or lead to blocking or denigration of channeled information, for instance, then that information might lead to memory loss or dismissal of the experience. The converse may be true as well. It's a funny thing, the subconscious mind. We are acting on it all the time, but allowing more of the subconscious mind to surface without judgment can lead to a more broad experience of spirituality or the so-called sixth sense.
