Am I being a hypocrite unto myself?

I recently became vegetarian...but due to my job ( which is helping to take care of my uncle) I have to still handle meat. I am the one that prepares his meals...so that means having to handle various types of meat since he is still a meat eater. He cannot cook his own meals because he is bed bound. I have no desire to even eat the meat I cook for him...but I feel kinda bad that I am still dealing with having to cook it....but I don't feel like I have much choice in the matter either...

Anyone have this kind of problem..being vegetarian but still having to handle meat for meat eating family members? how do you feel about it? does it bother you? did it ever?

Your not a hypocrite at all!

Cooking meat does not make you less of a vegetarian.

I personally will not cook meat for my family, or eggs and dairy.

If they eat at my house, and I'm cooking, they all eat vegan.

I end up having to bring my own food to my relatives homes, because they cook meat (although some relatives are more considerate than others, my lovely sister made me a beautiful stir fry the other day). They like meat, so they cook it. I like vegan food, so I cook it. Accept my food is usually way better =)

It doesn't sound hypocritical at all. Cooking meat may gross you out, but just remember why you're doing it - to help out your uncle! If it's really a big problem, consider talking to him about eating vegetarian meals occasionally.

I'm a vegetarian and I'm studding to be a pastry chief and i have to cook/handle meat all the time and i don't mind it! sometimes it's just what we have to do. it really doesn't bother me to cook meat for my family, it's fun becouse you don't know what it will taste like. lol

No you are not being a hypocrite. He has the right to eat meat just like you have the right to choose not to eat meat.

Im vegetarian and i still feed my animals meat

since he is bed ridden it is ok for you to make it for him

if someone else asked me to make them meat i would say make it your self i just made a delicious vegetarian dinner.

I don't see a problem here really. I wash and iron my dad's clothes and I don't wear men's clothes. I give money to the USO and Wounded Warriors and I oppose the US/Obama wasting its treasure and blood in Iraq. And I make vegetable-based dishes for my mom and I and a meat-eater. Life is full of contradictions. We do what we have to do in this world.

No, it's nice what you're doing for your uncle. If he's sick it would probably be stressful on him to have a big diet change especially if he doesn't want to. I feed my cat meat, including canned chicken which the vet suggested to keep her hairballs down.

It's not bad, but I would get like a meat substitute that has no meat in it and tastes just like it!

What you are doing is perfectly understandable. There is nothing wrong with that. My advice to you is that you need to monitor your protein intake to make sure that you'll have enough daily protein supply for your body.

My friend's a vegetarian and she is a caretaker too so she cuts up chicken. You will feel bad but if they could they'd do it themselves. You're not promoting that lifestyle.

i can understand why you feel bad,

    but it's not your fault,

    and your not eating it.

i would advice you to ask him if he would try some fake meat alternatives,

and see how he likes them.
