Hi
I have plantar fasciitis myself for a few months now. I understood that treatment efficiency is very individual. If something works for one it may not work for the other. My podiatrist prescribed me with custom made orthotics which did not work at all. There are taping techniques that I find very useful. There are a few more self care techniques that I got from this informative website-

Rest is the first treatment for plantar fasciitis. Try to keep weight off your foot until the inflammation goes away. You can also apply ice to the sore area for 20 minutes three or four times a day to relieve your symptoms. Often a doctor will prescribe nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen. A program of home exercises to stretch your Achilles tendon and plantar fascia are the mainstay of treating the condition and lessening the chance of recurrence.

I had plantar fascitus in both feet for two years, and the thing that finally healed me was night splints. You wear them when you go to bed at night, and they gently stretch your feet while you sleep (without further tearing any ligaments). Combine the night splints with some over the counter orthotics and daily ice treatments and she should be good to go.
Here's a URL I just dug up. The Footsmart Plantar Fascitus Kit II looks pretty good. The arch brace in this kit could take the place of over the counter orthotics. (It would probably be even more effective.)

I've had this. You should apply ice several times a day, take an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen, and do stretching exercises. http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/exercises-to-re...
It can take a long time for the inflammation to settle down, unfortunately. I had a series of steroid shots, and they didn't do much.
