How much is too much?

I am 8 months pregnant, and when I go out, and I see something for my little boy, I want to get it. When should I stop. How much is too much for a new born?

if you have to much your child might not get to wear it all .. or use it..

yes having nice things for outings is great but everyday my sis got stuff at garage sales or hand me downs from the church .. which iks also a good place to donate clothes of babies and toddlers that are in good condition..

everything doesn't have to be new ..

also my sis sold allot of stuf in garage sales

In parenting books, there are lists of the necessity items every new parents should have for baby. compare what you have already bought with this list. If there is too many of one item, consider exchanging one for something you will need in the future, or in a larger size...

When you can, gently used baby clothes from yardsales are a lifesaver on the old budget. That way you can afford the larger items such as baby crib or a comfy rocking chair for parents... (believe me... it is almost essential!) Pay attention to recalls listed on the web or on bulletin boards wherever baby furniture and toys are sold. This will save you a lot of grief over new or used items.

Too many NB clothes and diapers may not be useful as he may grow out of them in a few weeks. Too many toys for a specific age group may not be useful either. Even if you buy something for later...there's no guarantee that

a)something better may be available by the time he reaches that age which is probably what you wanted at the time

    b) you'll forget that you bought something and you may have two of the same things.

Source(s): personal experience my sis in law has bought a doctor's set for ages 3 years and up for my then 4 month old daughter. I seriously doubt i'd remember she bought it when my daughter turns 3.

If you have lot's of money don't worry about it. You can always give them to the needy after wards. If your not overally wealthy stop before you go into debt. It can get bad really fast. For newborn all they really need is 12-14 sleepers, 2 going out outfits, a couple hats, and some scratch mittens. All they wear for the first months are one peice sleepers.

  • Newborns grow quickly diaper and clothes wise. A lot of things I bought, I havent used and can't now.

My daughter NEVER fit into newborn diapers she was 9lb almost at birth and only wore newborn clothes for a month or so.

All the gadgets are great but like I said, they were impulsive purchases.

its easy to go overboard. look at the price of what you want to buy and put that amount into a savings jar instead!
