Have you noticed an increase of speeding citations in your area? Are the peace officers forced?

To issue more citations due to recession?

I believe that's certainly the case in California.

    Yes

In times of recession, the cops always do that. States are broke.

In illinois I almost lost my license to things I would have never been pulled over for 2 years ago.

2 speeding tickets 6 mph over(driving 40K miles a year) and 1 failure to make a complete stop at a stop sign.

    3 tickets = suspension for 6 months.

Wonder what they will fleece us with when they have us all suspended and riding the bus?

Everyone is happy that is it forcing the state to get rid of a bunch of state troopers that seem to have nothing better to do than harass people.

You might have a point in Calif I drive to southern Calif and make a pick up a few times a year when I'm state side I never get a ticket but than I have Texas plates on my pick up and the police being overwhelmingly conservative always Just smile and nod

If ever a state needed to be punished it would be Calif

It started here a few years ago to get more money. It's not confined to speeding and also includes not stopping "long enough" at a stop sign, anything to get more money. Communities are hurting and it pays to drive extremely carefully.

My city has found money to hire officers every year even in this economy and YES all I see is more motorcycle traffic cops out "stimulating revenue" as it were.

I've noticed cities laying off city officials including cops, they are probably trying to support their jobs a little longer.

No, I was stopped doing 75 in a 55 and got a warning after he checked to be sure my registration and insurance were current.

I must have passed over 10 police cars today in Colorado Springs. They're everywhere!

A town about one hundred miles from me has stated they are increasing enforcement to raise money.

yeah, a lot of police departments are rescinding the 5-10mph buffer usually applied to speed limits, they need their money more than ever.
