Toyota quality declining?
My 07 Corolla leaves rusty stains on my garage floor. The wheels rust on and must be beaten off with a hammer when I rotate the tires. The floor mat wore completely through in 25k miles. The tires wear rapidly even though I drive conservatively. Have others had similar quality problems?

Anthony, that video was hilarious! My '76 Ford truck was rusted EVERYWHERE, but at least it still had a frame! What worthless junk!

I don't know that Toyota ever had good enough quality where it could 'decline'. Toyota vehicles have had a plethora of serious problems for decades, including the rust-bucketing, but like lemmings people kept buying them anyways, deluded by the hype as well as the phony and puzzling Consumer Reports ratings. Finally, the truth has caught up to Toyota with a vengeance.
The one Toyota I owned was a disaster, and the most problem-plagued vehicle I've ever had, with more defects than all my other vehicles combined.

Only had a 2001 Camry and it was the worse car I ever owned. Fairly new rotors warped, was told to buy non toyota replacements because walls are too thin on toyota parts. Had a lot of electrical problems and peeling paint. Car blew a head gasket at 81 thousand miles

no remember if it truly is a toyota assembled via chinese language and oversteer via jap high quality controls you need to have no longer something to rigidity approximately. The honda jazz is assembled in thailand and oversteer via jap high quality conrol so a ways no significant problems with the jazz.

The new 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan is out now and rather stylist, though I think some of us "die hard Toyota owners" might be reluctant to buy brand new Toyota right now with all the bad publicity and safety issues.
FYI my personal thoughts for whatever they are worth is if you have been one of the lucky Toyota owners to have owned a decent well traveled Toyota that has given you in the range of 150,000 to 250,000 miles from brand new, then maybe it's better to be patient and drive another year or two at low maintenance costs and then revisit the brand new vehicle situation OR maybe spurge and treat yourself to luxury and all the bells & whistles of LEXUS!
Bottomline if you have a good trusted mechanic, know and follow the usual preventive maintenance routine, use genuine Toyota parts and don't cut corners, Toyotas can run forever and you will know when the time comes to say good bye to "old Betsy" <= term my Dad used for his DESOTO and CHRYSLER 300M bec visits to the mechanic become more frequent than the usual occasional ones and vehicle ownership of a 10 - 15 year vehicles begins to affect your wallet!
Hope the Above Info Gives You an Idea of Long Time Toyota Owners!

Yes others have had similar quality problems. People I work with have had many complaints like that. Toyota was doing so good at catching up to the American companies and even mad it to being about 60% as good as American but then they slipped up seeking profits and forgetting about the safety & quality. Thank God we still have American brands....

yep, sounds like the toyota's i have always known. its not you, its toyota's cheap material. however rust issues are most common in toyota pick-ups. these are inferior vehicles plagued with hundreds of problems the manufacturer denies. dont let no one tell you otherwise.
the trucks rust right in half after a couple years.
google toyota frame rust. you will get pictures of trucks snapped in half while lifted on hoists for inspections. it has nothing to do with weather conditions in states, they rust out in areas far from oceans, and with no snow (road salt) even.

Yes. I got rid of my Toyota and bought a new 2010 Ford Focus SEL. Oh happy day! It's Fords equivalent to the Corolla. And let me tell you, it's LIGHT YEARS ahead of the Corolla in quality, AND in looks, AND in mileage! There's a $3000 rebate on the Focus till April 5th. Grab it! You won't be sorry!

Where do you live? States that use salt on the roads are the real threat to the metal on your car. Whatever you do don't buy a Ford Focus SEL
