Documentation needed for an American citizen visiting South Africa?

Could anyone confirm with me that all I need is a valid passport if I am visiting for less than 90 days?

Or is there other documentation that I will need to bring?

You get the right and up-to- date answer from official sources (S A national tourist board, S A dept of foreign affairs, S A embassies in America,...) here:

    Hi,

To visit South Africa for less than 90 days on vacation you do not need a visa.

Your passport must have at least 2 blank pages and you need to have a return/ onward ticket, as well as proof of sufficient funds.

You also would require a WHO yellow fever certificates are required if the journey starts or entails passing through the yellow fever belt of Africa or South America.

    Enjoy your stay...

Just a tip South Africa does not have a very advanced public transport system you probably will need to hire a car.

Visa's are needed for "any" visit vice versa, If its a rule for one country it automatically becomes a rule for the other.

See site below and read under Entry/Exit Requirements to see that you are correct.
