What rights do you have with Private Investigators?

Suppose someone, for whatever reason, hired a PI to investigate what I'm up to. If I found out about it, and they didn't have a warrant to carry out surveillance on me, is there anything they could be charged with? Could you accuse them of harassment or stalking, for instance? What chances would such a case have?

A private investigator does not need a warrant to investigate you, just like the police do not need a warrant to investigate you. Most anti-stalking laws do not apply to licensed PI's.

Private investigators do not need a warrant. As long as they aren't violating the law. You could charge for harassment, but you have to prove it. Also, many private investigators get their information from public sources, or just staking out your place. You would have to PROVE harassment by seeing him constantly. If you can't then he isn't being harassing.

P.I.'s don't get warrants because they aren't government agents.

They have no more right to stalk or harrass you as any other private citizen.
