what do you all think about arranged marriage?

Arranged marriages always get a bad reputation because most people only hear the horror stories about it. What people don't hear is that there are very good healthy marriages that have resulted from arranged marriages. It really does depend upon how the two individuals are involved. In the horror stories, the interests of the two individuals aren't taken into account and it's a business deal (or a way for a father to get rid of his daughter by marrying her off). If the parents/people arranging look out for their son or daughter's best interest and involve their son or daughter (letting them have a say and actually listening to them) then it isn't bad or "full of crap."

It depends on how the process is done.

I don't really have a problem with it. I think it can be abused and many couples may feel pressured, but many arranged marriages have ended up happy. I think it really depends on the process, and whether the couple has more say in it or if it's just a business transaction.

It's practiced in countries where women are not allowed to make choices, education level is low, and the mentality is equivalent to a child's.

Arranged marriage is crap.
