This appeared in the forum page in today`s ST, what do you think?
Have they or have they not or are they still behaving in the world of "bochap" like not clearing their plates at food court/hawker centers.

As a nation perhaps but the people maybe another generation. Like what the first writer mentioned above, Singapore is a "fine" city state in other words "no fine no do"
Take those living in HDB flats or even in some condos, people still continue to throw their rubbish out of their windows. When they travel abroad they throw their rubbish anywhere they like. When they eat buffet at hotels/restaurants, they always bring a few plastic bags to "tapau" home....a kiasu behaviour. In MRT train, when young people seat on seats reserved for the elderly, they pretend to sleep and refused to get up for senior citizens or even mothers with baby.
These are some of Singaporean bad examples.

Yes, as Singaporeans are deprive from any privileged last time so Singaporeans are now having to enjoying those privilege, like not clearing their plates after finishing the dishes. Anyway, there is always someone to clear the plates after eating it as is the cleaners jobs, not the dinners job. But this is not only happening in Singapore only, it also happens in some parts of Malaysia, as well as China, as those places people are the same, no differences. Is only Singapore is the most prevalent, as is nation wide, so Singaporeans became the scapegoat of this act, which is an irony.

Well, I think some of us are already accustomed to have people clearing up for us. It is unlikely that we will ever change if nothing more is done to it. Perhaps instilling a fine will do the job because after all, we are a "FINE" city. But the people who are clearing up in the food courts will be most likely be out of a job.

this will be last generation of this bochap attitude. Remember, it was only less than 50 yrs ago that Singapore became a nation. It takes time to expunge all the bad habits we inherited from Malaysia.
Economically speaking, those cleaning ladies will either die off and/or wages will increase such that the canteens wont bother to spend money to provide that service.

its because of not wanting any trouble that's why we still have the ''bochap'' behaviour, clearing plates are normally done by the uncles and aunties that work there,if everyone starts clearing their plates, they really won't have anything to do

Nope, most of them are still stuck in Europe due to the Icelandic ash clouds.
