How can people see I am on Yahoo Msgr when I am invisible?
I use Yahoo Messenger for most of my chatting. So, I've made some nice friends online and chat with them. But you know, sometimes I just want to sort of log-in first and see who is here before I start to chat. Hate to say it, but some of the people on my friends list a just a bit too clingy and start yakking away as soon as they see me.
Well, recently, I will log-in to Yahoo IM as invisible and at least one of my friends can see that I am online and chatting. How is this possible? Is there another background program that people are using to see who is online and invisible? It's just bothersome.

Well, even if you log in as invisible but have not enabled your options, it won't do you any good.
Click Messenger on the tool bar and scroll to Privacy. In the top box, When I sign into Messenger, mark the box for Allow Yahoo web sites to show when I'm online.
Click Apply, then OK and immediately restart your computer.
Having enabled that option, you can now be invisible and NOT be seen by regular Yahoo users.

Apparently because the fine folks of Yahoo! are idiots.

there are the so-called invisible detectors. so even if you are loggedin as invisible, still they will know if you are online or not.
click this link and type any person in your list and see results. it will give the option if that person is online though invisible or really offline.
