How does astrology work?

How does the alignment of a couple of spheres consisting of billions of tons of rock and huge billowing balls of gases, not to mention a spectacular nuclear explosion going on for eons define the way that one insignificant human being born at a certain month of the earthly year, is going to behave?

As you guessed it does not work at all.

However it does work for the astrologers, heres how it works for them, you type any old guff on some paper, give it to a newspaper editor, he publishes it and sends you lots an lots of money.

    Cheers, Alan.

PS only 15 percent of people believe in God but 87 percent of women believe in Guff

PPS actually it made sense a few thousand years ago.

The ancients noticed that as the sun got higher and lower it controlled the harvest. (that's true)

Then they noticed that as the moon moved about the sky it controlled the tides (that's also true)

Then they noticed there was a war every two years, that's how long it takes for Mars to move round the sky so Mars must control Wars.

(Actually that was not true, it's just a coincidence that with bronze swords and spears it takes 2 years to mend broken weapons and to rebuild an army (wait till the 13 year old kids are big enough to carry arms) The astrologers would say "Mars is rising, THEY are going to attack us, we must attack first, it's a self fulfilling prophecy, so Mars did (indirectly) cause wars. From this semi true base all the other astrology was born but it was never more than a guess,

Never forget that the King's Astrologer was the richest and most powerfull man in the land (he told the King what to do)

Like Dechovka said, Astrology has been a great help for me to understand myself and why I do what I do , I know there is free will involved and it is not an excuse or reason for something I have done but still I got to know I am more prone to certain things in this life.It also help me aware of my weakness and potential pitfalls and also my strengths so I can make good use of them. Astrology also helps me understand others better and how to relate to them . I am spiritual in a sense that I do follow some buddha teachings. Maybe I dont follow them full on now, but still I try to seek contentment in myself. I am also trying to understand that certain things in life do not appear as they are, most of the time, I seek for the true meaning behind everything people say or do or how things happen/turn out the way they do . I also believe in a higher being ( not neccessarily The God that we know about - man, this one is one irritated god - my way or the hight way road ) , this higher being for me is nature and karma. I believe there are things that we can not explain or take a hold. This higher being is universal and us , as individual human being , is wired or connected to each other this way. I believe in the union of the souls. I feel that we have many lives , when this life ends, we will continue to live another one, completely physically separated of this life, but the soul is still the same but lay dormat/sub-concious and if we are lucky, sometimes we may have a moment where we know we " have been there before " So in a way , spirituality and astrology is connected as everything else in the universe. In this case, the nodes have their role and also the moon and neptune , the 12th house....if we are able to full understand the 12th house and its planets placements....I think maybe we could take a peek into our own spirituality.

The short answer is - It doesn't. It started as an attempt to explain the twinkly bits in the night sky, so in a way, is the forerunner of astronomy. To try to use it in a predictory way is, I'm afraid, nonsense, despite the claims of those TV personalities and (usually) newspaper sub-editors who get the job of writing daily horoscopes. It should also be born in mind that the constellations we see in the night sky only look that way because of our position in the Galaxy. If we could move 90 degrees round the Galaxy, we would see a different set of pictures entirely.

It does work don't listen too these idiots. As far as horoscopes go I wouldn't believe them

Now gutless ***** can dislike this

It works by capitalising on people's ignorance, gullibility, and cognitive bias. And it earns the astrologers lots of money in the process.

Astrology is a big waste of time, it hasn't contributed to our knowledge of the universe in any way.

It is a set of old traditions and ideas that got accumulated over time, also got organized by some smart people and slowly became to be called as science.

Its weapons grade bull. Professor Brian Cox upset them during one of his excellent TV shows on the Solar System.

Now the astrologers did not see that coming did they. Shows how good they are. Here is one prediction for you for free, it will get dark at night.

"Astrology only goes to prove that there's one born every minute."

Because it doesn't . but it is funny some times to read what Astrologists write. which is mostly generic things
