    From Schiphol Airport it is a train ride between 14 to 22 minutes to Amsterdam Central Station. There are about 8 trains leaving to Amsterdam CS every hour.

    Please make sure you take a 2nd class ticket. The ticket machines at Schiphol are programmed to give tourists a 1st class ticket, but you can change that to a 2nd class ticket. It is much cheaper and almost everyone in The Netherland takes a 2nd class ticket, except for some business people. But if you like a little comfort on this short train ride you can always purchase a 1st class ticket of course.

    That's because you probably don't buy your tickets in the English settings. In the articles below it is clearly stated that the tourists are invited to buy a ticket for the 'comfort class' which is in fact the first class. While they should be invited for a 2nd class ticket.

    The ride takes 15 minutes.

    Here's a short video about Schiphol Station to Amsterdam Central Station. You can see how the Airport and Schiphol station look like.

    (Btw. Schiphol Station is a main trainstation, the 6th bussiest of the Netherlands. it's connected with every city in the Netherlands)

    It's only 15 minutes by train to the centre of Amsterdam. There will be a train every 10minutes and it will only cost 7euros for a round trip. The train station at Schiphol airport is very easy to navigate, there will be people of the rail company all over the place and the travel information is displayed on big screens. Most information will be in English, the employees of the NS will speak English, the tickets dispensers are in English and the travel information will be in English. This is the link to their website in English, just put in your travel dates and select Schiphol for your departure and Amsterdam Centraal for your arrival station.

    Remember that the rail station is underground!

    @BasRah

    The dispensers are not programmed to sell first class tickets, that's simply not true. I buy train tickets everyday, so I would probably know if they did. They are always programmed to give out 2nd class tickets! You probably haven't used them alot.

    Source(s): I'm a native. I've taken the train many times in the past and for a matter of fact will use this connection tomorrow.

    Nothing to worry about or fear.

    It's only a 15-20 min ride from Schipol to Centraal Station.

    If you're coming form the US, use cash (euro) in the yellow ticket machines as you may have difficulty with your ATM or credit card. You can use usually both pretty easily in Amsterdam, but cash may be quicker if you're not familliar with the machines.

    PS, just click the british flag on the touch screen and the language will change to english for you.

    Remember...nothing to fear or be intimidated about.
