Should Elena Kagan wear a headcovering during her USSC confirmation hearings?

So as not to offend the US Muslim community? I'm hearing they are getting a mosque or something built at Ground Zero of all places, which illustrates the ongoing surrender of some elements of the USA to Islamic terrorism.

Its going to be hard enough for them to not feel alienated by the fact that Kagan is female, Jewish, and maybe even a lesbian, so a scarf might reassure Muslims that they aren't being thrown under the bus.

Why would she wear a head covering if she said the following:

"that someone suspected of helping finance Al Qaeda should be subject to battlefield law -- indefinite detention without a trial -- even if he were captured in a place like the Philippines rather than a physical battle zone."[

Just admit you are clueless and don't like her because of who she has worked with in the past and who nominated her. It has nothing to do with her beliefs.

Probably so, since she helped shield Saudi Arabia from lawsuits filed by families of 9/11 victims seeking to target countries and leaders who helped finance Al Qaida.

She's more in line with our enemies, so it makes since that Obama would want her on the US Supreme Court.

Also because she's a woman. Liberals see people as groups, not individuals. The fact that she has no experience as a judge doesn't come into play.

Wonderful, what a logical, fact filled question.

If anything, a Jewish woman, first female dean at Harvard Law, would probably be the least sympathetic to Muslims.

And I love the way you threw in that she might be a lesbian, just can't let the sex thing go, no matter how many 'family values' Republicans get caught in the wrong bed. I don't know if she is or isn't, but I also don't care if she has a good legal mind. Apparently she does.

What do you mean about a headcovering? She is not a Muslim or an Orthdox Jew. The swearing in of any government official should not be a religious matter anyway.

Since Elena Kagan was born a man, technically, he doesn't need to wear a headcovering.

Who cares about muslims and their feelings if they do not like it here and our way of life they can go some where else Same as any other person or persons if they do not like what we do go some where else. Enough catering to specific groups of any belief or custom assimilate or leave. This is the USA.

Why could Kagan recuse herself while the Thomas kin profited handsomely from opposing Obamacare and he refuses to recuse himself? what's nice for the goose is nice for the gander.

I don't think a jewish woman wearing a head covering during a swearing-in ceremony for one of the (formerly) three branches of the US government is going to appease anyone. Unlike her religion/heritage, she would undoubtedly be taking the head covering off 5 minutes after saying: "I (state your name) ..."
