I'm not sure of spelling!! My son looked it up on this site ,someone said "lots of sun" NO WAY, it totally burned my leaves,do I just cut them down a bit and grow back out? Will the adapt to sun, last year I had it in sun in the AM and they where fine, Maybe direct hot hot sun is too much?

Dracaena massangeanas grow in deep shade in tropical forests. That is why they make very good indoor plants in places where there is little or no direct sunlight. That is is also why they fare poorly outside in anything but shaded locations.

I don't recommend putting them outside for a couple of reason. First, it forces them to adjust to the more intense outdoor light in the spring and then to the reduced light in the fall. It is better to leave your Corn Plant in a good indoor location year round so it doesn't have the stress of adapting twice every year. The second reason is that these plants are a bit top heavy and their large leaves act as wind foils. Consequently, they topple over very easily in gentle outdoor breezes.

Your Dracaena Fragrans will do best getting a lot of light, but it needs to be indirect or filtered light. Just sticking it out in full sun can, as you now know, burn it to a crisp. You may be able to harden it off gradually to a bit more direct sun, but it's never going to adapt to the scorching heat of the day. I have numerous varieties of dracaena and I set them outside every year but always in a partially shaded area where they get indirect light, or in a couple cases direct morning sun, but no more than that.

Just trim off the burnt leaves and move it back to where you had it last year and it should be fine. They're really easy to take care of, all things considered. The following site has some basic and helpful care tips:

No more full sun for Mr Corn Plant! =)
