There are two ways for you to view your LAN (Local Areal Network) IP address or private IP address by using and without using Command Prompt. Suppose you are using Windows 7, Vista and XP.
Option 1: Using Command Prompt:
=====
When using command prompt, Widows XP, Vista and 7, have the same steps to find the IP address on your computer.
1) Click on Start menu and select All Programs.
2) Click on Accessories and select Command Prompt.
3) At Command Prompt, type:
ipconfig
And press “ENTER” button on your keyboard, and you will see the screen report of your IP address and other information.
Note: IP Address (or IPv4 Address for Windows 7 or Vista) is a series of number following the pattern xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (e.g. 192.168.0.185).
Option 2: Without Using Command Prompt
=====
For Windows 7:
1) Click on Start menu and select Control Panel.
2) Click on Network and Sharing Center and select Local Area Network.
3) Click on Detail.
Your IP address will appear after IPv4 Address (i.e., 192.168.0.185).
For Windows Vista:
1) Click on Start menu, right-click on Network and select on Properties.
2) Click on View Status.
3) Click on Detail.
You will see your IP address after IPv4 Address.
For Windows XP:
1) Click on Start menu, right-click on My Network Places and select Properties.
2) Double-click on Local Area Network.
3) Click on Support tab and click on Details.
