    You write it and put your name and date at the bottom. It does not cost anything.

    Sending yourself a letter proves nothing except that you mailed a large unsealed envelope to yourself on that date. Google "poor man's copyright urban myth".

    If your manuscript ever becomes a book, the publisher will arrange legal copyright registration.
