Swollen taste bud or cold sore?
Swollen taste bud or cold sore?
Alright so probably about 3-4 days ago I had a burrito. It was kind of spicy but I ate it anyways. After the burrito I found this odd feeling under my tongue. So I got up and went to the bathroom to go check. This was probably a couple of hours after eating. But I noticed this white head under my tongue right on my frenulum (webby part).
Alright so I had no idea what it was so I asked a friend and had her look at it. She said it could either be one, a swollen taste bud or two a cold sore. I wasn't really sure what to think of this but after waiting a few days and taking a little bit of yogurt I noticed nothing has changed but I also haven't really been eating it for very long to probably get a change.
The odd thing is, is when I pretty much each anything, a vein swells and causes the left gland on my neck to slightly swell. It doesn't hurt it's just a bit uncomfortable and kind of an annoyance to know it' there..And thats probably because of where it's at. But any other time it doesn't swell, only pretty much when I eat and my taste buds going insane I guess.
So yeah any idea of what it could be? Or maybe anyone might know if they've had such a thing to maybe give me some pointers of how to get rid of it? It's really annoying :S
I also wanted to add I'm not seeing a dentist for this seeing how it costs a crap load of money :\ So thats out of the question. So all 'see a dentist' would be useless.
Hey thanks a lot but it's going down and almost gone now. I've been eating one to two cups of yogurt, normally 1 around in the morning and 1 before bed. It's almost none exsistant now and for the first time in like 5 days I got to eat something with out the vein under my tongue and my glad on the left side of my neck didn't swell. Thanks anyways and always try out the normal ways before having a hefty bill :) Yogurt and warm water salt did it for me, whatever I had anyways.

I don't think it's a swollen taste bud because those are only on the tongue & cold sores normally pop up on the inner lining of your mouth. Based on your description of the location, what it could be is a blocked salivary gland. Especially when you mentioned you noticed some swelling when you eat - which is the time you tend to secrete saliva.
I'm not sure of any remedy to get rid of it at home. If it doesn't improve in the next couple days and if you notice any changes like pain or swelling...best to consult with a dentist. (Sorry - I know that's not the answer you wanted!)
