What truths do you hold to be self-evident?

That everyone has the right to be happy but not at the detrimental expense of others. And by detrimental expense I am referring to taking another person's life, family, home, possessions,dignity or freedom merely to improve ones own circumstances. And by happy, I mean to find happiness in whatever form is meaningful to that person, not a particular society's definition of happiness.
