Does a home need a bathtub for resale?

Physical limitations have put the bathtub and even the bathtub shower out of bounds. I'd like to exchange the bathtub for a walk in shower. Will this greatly reduce resale value of the home?

You are the one living in your home. Reno for you. Unless you are selling in the near future, I would not worry about it. You need a shower..get a shower and do not worry about the removal of the tub. If you choose to sell some years down the road have the shower removed and replace with a tub/shower if it does not sell. No tub just narrows the market, but does not mean your home will be unsellable.

in most cases, yes, it will reduce the resale value. however there are certain real estate markets where it wouldnt be too big of an issue, younger people with no children wouldnt care too much. It really depends on the location of your home, is it a suburban family house, or an uptown appartment?

Most folks would expect a bathtub in any home. This is especially important if they have children.

You might want to look into installing a fiberglass shower unit in your garage or elsewhere suitable.

I would definitely NOT get rid of a tub altogether.

It will as people with small children or those unable to stand well will not be able to buy your home.
