How do you get your HTML and your Web browser to run simultaneously In order to build a web site?

I'm 61 and have gone back to school. I am taking an online class on how to build a web site. As I add content to my HTML I am supposed to be able to look at it on my browser. How do you get both systems running at the same time? I am using WordPerfect 10 to make the website and Internet explorer 8 to look at the finished product.

Update:

(quikgfdgfd) your answer had the most information, but I still don't understand. Please contact me at Puppets 48744@yahoo.com or add me to your yahoo instant messenger so that I may be talked through it. Thank you Or anyone else that will have patience to help this old guy.

Update 2:

"Eureka"

After listening to your answers and playing with it for quite a while, trial and error has proved to be successful.

Thank you everyone.

When I was young there weren't any remote controls for electrical devices. You had to change it manually. TV's had only been in existence for a few years. There were only 3 channels to get. Outside antennas only no satellites. Sputnik was the first satellite in space, by Russia

All it did was transmit a ping.

First - do not use a full powered word processor like word perfect or ms word. They add hidden characters that you cannot display. Use something like notepad or wordpad. Which are located in the accessories folder on windows machines. When saving the file - Use a filename without spaces and a html extension filename.html

Easy way to view it in IE is browse to where the file is located on your hard drive and double click on it - it will open in IE. When you make changes - save the changes then in IE click the icon to the right of the address bar and to the left of the red X or else simply press F5

You can open both applications at the same time if that's what you mean.

Internet Explorer will not update your website for you. It stays on the same html page until you refresh the page, either by pressing the refresh button on-screen or pressing F5 on your keyboard. When you refresh the page, any changes you made using WordPerfect 10 will show up if you have saved them.

Save your HTML in WordPerfect as whateveryouwant.html and then open it in Internet Explorer. Save the document and then refresh Internet Explorer when you want it to update..

Save your code, then refresh your browser (Which should be pointed at your .html file)
