What do the Phillies need to do to return to the playoffs this October?

The talent is there for the Phillies, but they haven't been able to put it all together this season & that has surprised me. The offense hasn't scored many runs, not giving their starting pitchers any run support. But, things can change quickly for them, if they start hitting with RISP. Also, a returning Chase Utley will help the Phillies immensely. Perhaps, it'll be a energy boost for the entire offense. Ibanez producing a bit more would help as well. And they do need another starting pitcher. They can do better then Moyer & Kendrick.

Well, if they don't win the division, they have to get in as the wildcard.

Its an awful erratic year, 3 teams in that division could get hot & run away with it, the Braves, Mets or Phillies, all 3 of them will be alive going into the last week.

Krista, Hamels has been great this year. "IF he is having a good day" is naive to say, that's something you could say last year but this year he has been consistent and has pitched like the great number two pitcher he is. The Phillies NEED to get a starter, Blanton and Kendrick would be in the Minors right now on any other team, and Moyer is inconsistent as hell. Halladay and Hamels can't pitch every game, and they need a bat. As more and more games pass by, it seems like it's just not gonna be their year but I refuse to give up on them. A Braves breakdown would also be nice.

get a few more pitchers for the starting rotation and the bullpen, the offense already seems like it has recovered, but it seems like the only pitcher the phillies has is halladay and possibly hamels IF he is having a good day

4-3: my apologies, i only looked at his record, not his ERA, my bad. still, even with happ coming back eventually, my main point was i think the philles need at least 1 more starting pitcher and 2 more bullpen guys to come back.

Only one of two things are available:

1. Win the NL East

2. Be the NL Wild Card team

pray for Chase Utley to heal quicker

get guys to come off the DL
