Best answer vs. Total points Discrepancy?

Why is it that when viewing the leader board some of the top contributors with say 500,000 points you see these same people will have a best answer percentage that is off the charts statistically? You will see ratios like 51% best answer that's approx 250,000 "BEST ANSWERS" out of aprx.500,000 answers total. Yet there are other top contributors with a "Best answer" of 7-10 % for the 500,000 answers which I think is way more in line with normal. One more thing ALL of these "top contributors" have blocked their Q&A history so there is no way to see all of these supposed "Best answers"!!! No way to verify anything. Why the need for secrecy they are just answers in a public forum right? Seems like something real fishy is going on.Or am I just not understanding something?

Update:

One more thing, The peoplein the 7-10% best range have open histories for the most part.

A lot of top answerers keep their info private because they're more prone to attacks by other people.

People with 80 - 90% best answer are people that knows how to take advantage of the system. Are you aware that you can vote your own answer as best answer. With that knowledge, what they do is answer questions that have no answers and are about to expire. So as soon as they answer, it's going to go into voting, and as soon as it goes into voting, they'll vote their answers as best answer (which is legal). And that's how they get such a high percentage of best answers. It's also why they keep their answers private so that people can't vote no best answer.

Also, a lot of the top contributors are point gamers. They'll tell their friends to vote for their answer, or they'll make a bunch of accounts and vote their answer as best answer. You can tell who these people are because they'll have just enough votes to win the best answer. They also seem to have the same amount of votes.

The secrete: vote for your own best answers. Do that combined with half decent answers and you will probably at least get a 40% best answer rating. And that's legal.

Most TC have there profile pages blocked because people can and will stalk them and follow them around. I can't tell you how many people want to delete Steven K. just because he has the most points. Some people already stalk the categories he answers in waiting for him to answer and report it automatically. Scary? What would happen if they could just go to any question because he kept it open. I myself have had a few stalkers to. Its a scary thing.

There are people out there that do in fact abuse the system they are called point gamers. Although you can tell them so easily by there answers when you do find them tied with what questions they answer. Sadly due to how the system works there is little to stop them.

The need is not for secrecy but to stop the stalking. Why the high percentage because other users will choose them as best even if their answer is useless. But because they are leaders it is assumed their answer is correct.

Please don't make broad assumptions from just a few data points. Do some people cheat? Sure. Does that mean ANYBODY who has a high percentage cheats? Of course not. Some of us just are VERY selective in what we answer, and consistently answer well. And, NO, not ALL of those TCs have blocked their q&a. Many of us don't.
