How does one get to chat on Facebook?

Oh easy....

At the bottom right hand screen there should be a rectangular shape, saying how many friends you have online. Click on that and it'll come up showing your online friends. If you want to talk to any of them. Simply click on the name of the friend and there will be a little box that comes up. Now there will be a box with the name of the friend you are talking to at the top. At the bottom of the box is a small rectangle. Click in the box and type in what you would like to say to your friend. Then when you're done, click enter and you friend should see what you've written and then reply!

Hmm. It seems like when the chat box pops up in the lower-right-hand corner of your browser window, you should just be able to put your cursor in the typing area and then be able to respond by typing a response.

There is an "offline" mode accessable through the chat options in the chat box, but you don't seem to be offline because you can actually see the person who is trying to chat.

If you are unable to type, you might have a problem with your keyboard or are using a device which does not have a keyboard or you need to activate an onscreen keyboard or something.

At this point however, I can't say that I know what your specific problem is.

Chat should be visible at all times in the lower right hand corner of your browser window on facebook and you should just be able to click on chat at any time. If it is not visible I would say there is a problem with your browser (my Yahoo! browser always has problems with facebook, which is why I use Firefox or Chrome instead...)

First,You must have confirmed your email that you entered when you made your account , then on the bottom right hand corner of your screen a white box will say e.g. Chat (0) . Click the white box to see who is avalible for chat . When you've found one of your added friends click their name and an extra window should open up . Type your text into the chat bar at the bottom of the extra window . Have fun chatting ! p.s. You can only chat with added friends using this type of chat on Facebook.
