Before the invention of religion what happened to people?

There is no suggestion in any examination of human history that humans have ever existed without some form of religion.

Before humans had the capacity for abstract thoughts that led to the development of religion, they most likely weren't what we would call "human".

"karma" by the way is a religious concept.

They were scientist walking on all fours, eating bananas, then they evolved to religious mentalities, and everything they saw something that amused them became their gods. They made images of everything they were amused by. After God stopped laughing He gave His only begotten Son to teach us the right way to worship God in spirit and in truth.

they died, there bodies rotted and were absorbed by the earth. there are no souls that go to wherever when they died, b/c souls are something we dreamed up to comfort us once we became aware we would die and our life would be over.
